Spider Web Recruitment (Spider) acts as the Data Controller for any personal or sensitive information you supply to us when registering as a Candidate or Client, and in relation to enquiries about our services.
Spider Web Recruitment Ltd (Spider) is registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioners register – Registration number: ZA306225.
The information that we collect about you will only be used lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation 2018). All data is retained exclusively within the United Kingdom or transferred only to ‘third countries’ where ‘adequacy of protection’ or specific certification as defined by The GDPR has been confirmed.
This information will not be disclosed to anyone outside Spider Web Recruitment Ltd (Spider) or its associated companies, partners, and other companies with which Spider Web Recruitment Ltd (Spider) has arranged services for your benefit.
We expect the information we hold to be accurate and up to date. You have the right as an individual to find out what information we hold about you and make changes if necessary; you also have the right, assuming we are not obligated by law to refuse, to ask us to stop using the information. Candidates
How We Collect Your Personal Data
When you apply for a position advertised by or through Spider via our candidate hub https://jobs.spiderrecruit.co.uk/ Spider will receive your personal data. This also applies when:
- you applied via a third-party job board website and you have consented to have your details and CV placed on their CV database.
- you send your CV directly by email or post
- apply directly via email or telephone
- you register as a candidate for whom we can facilitate an employment search
- you applied via a third-party for a position advertised by Spider on a job board
There are a number of ways that Spider may obtain your personal data including:
- Yourself directly when you contact us to work on your behalf
- Your CV
- Email applications
- Job Board applications or CV database
- Website applications or enquiries
- Telephone enquiries or applications (where details may be recorded on our system)
- Face-to-face meetings
- Social media, including but not limited to LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook
- Personal recommendations or referrals from other Candidates or clients
If you apply to register with Spider for us to help you with your search for a new role, we will collect the following personal data from you which will be added to our secure database.
The data we collect:
- Name
- Address
- Email address
- Contact details
- Date of birth
- CV/Employment history
- Search criteria including role, location, current and desired salary
- Educational history including any qualifications, training and certificates
- Right to work documents (if applicable)
How we will use the information about you
- We will use the personal information we collect about you to:
- Assess your skills, qualifications, and suitability for the role
- Carry out background and reference checks, where applicable
- Communicate with you about the recruitment process
- Keep records relating to the hiring processes
Having received your CV and covering letter we will then process that information to decide whether you meet the basic requirements on behalf of our clients to be shortlisted for the role.
The legal basis for processing your data is based on your need to be recruited, therefore we will not store, process or transfer your data for any other reason than what is detailed above unless we have an appropriate lawful reason to do so. Unless we are precluded from doing so by law, you have the right to remove your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link if included on the emails we send, or by contacting us and requesting that processing of your details be restricted or deleted.
Unless otherwise required by law, your data will be stored for a period of 2 years after our last contact with you, at which point it will be deleted or you request otherwise. We will, however, contact you annually to receive your continued consent to retain your personal information.
If you fail to provide personal information
If you fail to provide additional information when requested, which is necessary for us to consider your application (such as evidence of qualifications or work history), we may not be able to process your application successfully.
How we use particularly sensitive personal information
If you disclose sensitive personal information during the recruitment process, we will use your particularly sensitive personal information in the following ways:
- to consider whether we need to provide appropriate adjustments during the recruitment process, for example whether adjustments need to be made during an interview or as part of the role you are applying for.
Automated decision-making
You will not be subject to decisions that will have a significant impact on you based solely on automated decision-making.
Specifically, for Candidates Applying to an Advert Published By Spider Web Recruitment Ltd:
By applying for a specific advert via our partner job sites, our own website, social media or by you emailing your CV to us, you give permission for Spider to submit your personal information contained within your CV or any other relevant information you provide in order for the prospective employer to review your application for the specific role applied for.
Spider will not submit or use your personal information for any other purposes other than for searching for alternative employment.
We will also request additional consent directly from you before submitting your personal information to any other recruiting company who are working directly with Spider for recruitment advertising or recruitment purposes.
We will never disclose your information to any third party unless legally required to do so and we will only ever contact you with the sole purpose of helping you find your dream job or offering career-related advice.

National Insurance Details - Passport Details
- Bank Details or any other type of identification other than your name
- These details are not required by Spider Web Recruitment Ltd and any legibility checks carried out will be the responsibility of the recruiting company and only required at the latter stages of selection. If in doubt, please contact our office for more information before submitting the application.
We may, in further dealings with you, extend this information to include, services used and records of conversations and agreements.
